Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) Latest Jobs: Recruitment for Donor Projects Manager

THE ORGANIZATION:

Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU), is the largest and fasting growing organization of its type in the country, preparing for a period of rapid expansion with support from the UK and US governments. We aim to contribute 15 points to Uganda’s contraceptive prevalence rate by 2015, saving and improving many thousands of Ugandan lives. We are looking for two proactive, experienced project managers to manage a diverse and high-value portfolio of sexual and reproductive health projects, including oversight of a sub-granting programme. 

MSU is a client-centred and results-oriented social enterprise. We deliver high quality,
effective and sustainable family planning and reproductive health interventions across every district of Uganda. MSU has 25% of the market share in modem contraceptives and, in 2010, safely delivered 35,000 babies and contributed 4 points to Uganda’s contraceptive prevalence rate. MSU has enjoyed 20% year on year growth since 2007.

POST TITLE:   Donor Project Manager  

REPORTING TO: The Senior Donor Project Manager

THE JOB:
  • As a member of the donor projects team at MSU, the Donor Projects Manager (DPM) main role is to facilitate the delivery of selected MSU donor projects, ensuring that activities are well managed in accordance with deadlines, contractual targets and budgets,
  • A key deliverable will be the creation of high quality reports to donors, in accordance with contractual deadlines,
  • This person is expected to be able to interface comfortably with key external stakeholders and donors as well as MSU directors and managers,
  • It is particularly important that the post holder is able to sustain a close and collaborative partnership with operational staff in the supgr-’iftice and field, so that project deliverables remain a focus of operational activities,
  • In particular, this post holder will be able to work productively with the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation team to ensure that programme activities serve the indicators in MSU’s M&E framework, as well as the Finance team to ensure projects are delivered to budget.
THE ROLE:
Your role will be to ensure:
  • Agreed performance indicators are met,
  • Projects are implemented to budget,
  • Reports are delivered to donors in accordance with contractual requirements,
  • Onward granting is well managed,
  • Contractual documentation is well maintained,
  • All activities are donor compliant,
  • Projects are implemented in close coordination with other teams.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree in public health or related discipline,
  • Desirable: Masters or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing multiple donor projects in the not for profit sector,
  • Desirable: experience of managing sub-grants to other organisations,
  • Desirable: experience managing reproductive health projects,
  • Exposure to regular high level external donor meetings.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Proven excellent technical oral, written, and editing abilities: ability to present and write influentially for multiple audiences,
  • World class project management skills,
  • Ability to work well with others in team environments; must be able to satisfy stakeholders: should be able to work in deadline driven/results orientated atmospheres,
  • Able to work as part of a team, building consensus and driving change,
  • Able to think strategically,
  • Good planner.

SALARY/ REMUNERATION: - USD/month
