MAYANK Anti-Corruption Coalition (MACCO) Latest Jobs in Uganda: Recruitment for Project Manager (PM)

THE ORGANIZATION:

MAYANK Anti-Corruption Coalition (MACCO),is a civil society regional anti-corruption network based in West Nile. MACCO works to enhance transparency, accountability and responsive governance with a view to improve service delivery, human rights and pro-poor policy environment. In our 5 years Strategic Plan (SP), MACCO identifies three focus areas under governance; 

(1) inclusion and participation of the very poor and marginalized in decision­-making processes, 
(2) curtailing corruption and misuse of public and private resources, sustainable livelihoods. 

MACCO has implemented similar governance and human rights interventions in the last
three years with support from MS Uganda, Action aid, DANIDA, The Royal Danish’ Embassy in Uganda, Uganda National NGO Forum, and Anti-corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU) and now with Independent Development Fund (IDF, the European Union (EU) and Government of Uganda.

Our partner, Center for Governance and Economic Development (CEGED) is a not-for-profit organisation that was started in 2009 and has founder members that pride themselves of over a decade of active community development work within the West Nile region. The aspiration of CEGED is to be a center of excellence in the promotion of good governance practices and initiatives for economic prosperity, all focusing on poverty reduction in line with the Government of Uganda’s National Development Plan and the Millenium Development Goals (MGDs). 

The vision of CEGED is “to promote Good Governance as a catalyst for socio-economic development in the West Nile sub-region”. The activities of CEGED aim to result in a simplified accountable Government, a responsible and economically empowered citizenry. CEGED works in partnership with SNV to facilitate sustainable local solutions in Agriculture and Water Sanitation and Hygiene. It takes lead to facilitate CSOs learnings to pursue a vast range of different goals, including promoting voice and accountability in policy development and implementation.

We have received funding from the European Union under Democratic Governance and Accountability Programme (DGAP) to implement Community Empowerment for Social Accountabiltty (CESA) project’.. 

CESA is aimed at building citizens civic competencies to participate in local governance and be able to hold their leaders to account. This is intended to be achieved through an interactive and collaborative process that will have capacity of CSOs in Adjumani, Moyo, Yumbe and Nebbi districts strengthened and motivate local authorities and leaders to engage with citizens while being accountable and responsive to the needs of the poor and marginalize people in West Nile. CESA shall be implemented in partnership with Centre for Governance and Economic Development (CEGED).

We are now looking for qualified Ugandans to take up job positions in this project as below;

POST TITLE:   Project Manager (PM)

The PM is part of the management team and is responsible for ensuring that CESA project objectives are achieved in the most effective and efficient way.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibility Areas Sitting at MACCO, the PM KRAs are:
  • Work and Collaborate with MACCO staff, members, Associates, partners and stakeholders to plan, implement, and monitor and evaluate project activities (30%),
  • Support Management of Finance and Procurement (30%),
  • Manage and supervise CESA project staff (15%),
  • Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (20%),
  • Represent MACCO and build relations with stakeholders (10%).
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Master’s Degree in Development Studies or Equivalent with at least 5 years’ experience in Program Development and Management;
  • Proven skills in project/program planning and budgeting;
  • Experience in Networking, coalition and Partnership building among civil society organizations;
  • Understanding rights based approach to development (RBA) and Policy Advocacy;
  • Experience in working with local governments;
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication/report writing skills;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English;
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel computer programs.
WORKING CONDITION:
  • The position is based in Arua town with frequent travel to the field for 50 % of time and about 15 % of time in Kampala and other regions,

SALARY/REMUNERATION: USD/month
