TPO Uganda Latest Jobs: Recruitment for National Coordinator, Monitoring and Documentation Officer

THE ORGANIZATION:

TPO Uganda is a local national NGO that has been operating in Uganda for over 17 years now. Our projects target the most vulnerable communities delivering the following critical interventions; Child Protection (Orphans and vulnerable children), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Eco systems, Food Security and Livelihood Support, Peaceful Co-existence, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and HIV/AIDS Prevention. 

TPO is currently running projects in the districts of Isingingro, Bushenyi, Gulu, Kitgum, Nwoya, Amuru, Lira, Pader, Katakwi, West Nile region and Karamoja and is looking to recruit for the following positions:

POST TITLE:   Monitoring and Documentation Officer


DUTY STAtION: Kampala with frequent field travel

REPORTING: Program Manager

JOB SUMMARY: 
  • The primary responsibility of the job holder is to put in place systems and procedures through which strategic and operational information and data from all TPO projects will be captured and managed,
  • Working closely with the Program Manager, 
  • He/She will provide support to projects to ensure that all projects are on course to attain their set goals and objectives,
  • The documentation role of the position holder will include distilling and consolidating project information from field activities into periodic reports,
  • He/She will also prepare excerpts on program activities for awareness raising and advocacy purposes and for use on the TPO Uganda website.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate must possess the following skills:
  • The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Statistics/Demography/Population Studies or related field,
  • Candidates with post graduate qualifications will have an added advantage,
  • Candidates with professional qualifications in either project monitoring, evaluation, documentation and/or data management will stand an advantage,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Ability to decipher and interpret complex policy documents,
  • Interpret research reports and strategic plans into meaningful texts for specific audiences,
  • Impeccable self-organization and work planning skills,
  • Familiarity with managing and interpreting project progress monitoring data.

POST TITLE:   National Coordinator – Child Protection Working Group.

CONTRACT: Initially 2 years recruited by TPO Uganda and seconded to the Ministry of Gender (MOGLSD).

DUTY STATION: Kampala with frequent field travels.

JOB SUMMARY: 
  • TPO Uganda has received a grant from the Oak Foundation to support the Ministry of Gender, to strengthen the functionality of the Child Protection Working Group (CPWG) in the ministry,
  • The CPWG is platform of governmental and non-governmental institutions and actors working in the area of child protection in Uganda,
  • As the National Coordinator, you will be tasked to work with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs to establish a fully-fledged Secretariat for the CPWG,
  • You will also be responsible for scheduling regular CPWG coordination meetings and keeping member organisations and institutions informed on activities of the Secretariat and the working group. 
  • You will play a key coordination role, in ensuring that the NCPWG brings together national and international child focused organisations and institutions in the country, to a common platform that enhances practice, linking and learning.
KEY TASKS:
  • To coordinate the day to day operations of the CPWG Secretariat including implementation of its strategic plan,
  • To coordinate national and regional efforts leading to the strengthening of the functionality and effectiveness of the national child protection system in Uganda,
  • To promote interagency learning and public-private partnerships through regular information sharing, organising national reflection and learning activities and joint activities,
  • To harmonise child protection programming by strengthening national level child protection coordination mechanisms specifically by linking and aligning the work of the National Child Protection Working Group with structures at regional and district level,
  • To put in place mechanisms that facilitate more effective and timely identification and response to emerging child protection concerns at national level,
  • To work closely with the Department of Youth and Children Affairs and the OVC Secretariat to harmonise data capture processes in the OVCMIS and to increase the utilisation and uptake of national child protection data for effective evidence based programming,
  • To put in place procedures that inform and increase access by practitioners to child protection literature, discussion platforms, and legal and policy frameworks pertaining to children,
  • To participate in ongoing efforts to standardise child protection training in Uganda by facilitating access to standardized and accredited child protection training.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum Masters Degree in a Social Work related field with more than 5 years of consistent practice in the field of child rights, and/or child protection,
  • A good understanding of the way government structures and systems work including experience in liaising and coordinating between governmental and non-governmental actors,
  • In addition you should have worked in a management and/or coordination position either coordinating a network of NGOs, governmental departments or consortium of national actors.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills, ability to work under minimal supervision, self driven and innovative, ability to chair high-level meetings, fundraising and resource mobilisation skills.

SALARY/REMUNERATION:  USD/month
